about

In the nick of time, a mysterious man arrived and saved us. It was a moment of great strength.

Heaven within, Thunder without. The greatness of Heaven supports the action of thunder. In the I Ching this Hexagram is called Great Strength.
This could be a time when people come together in great strength in practical everyday circumstances. Once again I chose to make this song a fantastical moment of great strength, because remember, this is a fictional story that illustrates examples of each Hexagram dynamic, but it is also entertainment.

(If i had gone the other route of making Retreat a song about the Queen of Hearts pulling away from Wudang Funk, this would be about them coming together in a moment of great strength, but instead I decided to make it more Hollywood in nature)

So this one will take some explanation, because now we are getting pretty out there.

This is a fictional story that takes place in a parallel universe (so is it actually a true story?) This universe is very similar to our own. Technologies such as cameras, speakers, cars, and guns exist in this universe. It takes place on earth, in modern day. However, the laws of physics in this universe are slightly different. In this universe, sound has more of an influence on matter than it does in ours. So music has seemingly magical powers (but its not magic, it's scientific according to the physical laws of this alternate universe.) There are less musicians in this universe because music is more difficult to master, given it's powerful nature. As aforementioned, Nazis exist in this universe. But Germany was never a country in this universe so the Nazis originated in France. America is a country in this universe, but in this timeline America is a 3000 year old country and China is 300 years old. Wudang mountain is in America in the Rocky Mountains in this universe, and Taoism originates in America, and The I Ching is written in English. The French Nazis took over America about 50 years before and installed an Orwellian system, but not perfectly. The year is 1984. Wudang Kung Fu exists in this universe, and a part of the art includes the musical style that was passed down to Wudang Funk. Wudang Funk's power is similar to that of Pied the Piper. His music can influence peoples hearts and minds. So the Orwellian Nazi regime REALLY didn't like it when he sang from his soapbox. They also don't like him because he's racially mixed. The Mighty Hero's power is different. His music has the power to move objects. He came from Brazil.

The Mighty Hero shows up and holds off the enemy forces by playing a song that allowed him to remotely control the motion of his sword. Wudang Funk and the Queen of Hearts are able to move on.

lyrics

So as we ran away so we'd escape calamity
The legions swarmed from all around, as far as I could see
Then out there in the distance
Then out there from afar
I saw a mighty man who held a sword and a guitar

The power of his mightiness was more than they could stand
He picked up his guitar and played a song from other land
His sword flew up and started swinging while he sang his tune
And led the evil legions into their impending doom
