Fighting ends with a flailing into nothing. A multitude gathers around.
In my copy of the I Ching this one is called "Multitude," but my teacher said he prefers the term "Flailing." Water within, Earth without, Here the flow of water is lead by the receptive, yin nature of earth. If you think of it as "multitude" then there is an image of masses (water), being lead by a receptive leader. If you think of it as "flailing" then there is a sense that one is flailing out for a response without much effort in return (like if you text somebody again even though they haven't responded yet)
In the lyrics of the song I tried to encompass both concepts. I wrote it after attending a show at Headliners and observing the interaction of the crowd and the performer.
lyrics
Reaching out for an answer still
We need something to guide our will
Here we gather around the fire
We are flailing to fulfill desire
Here we gather around the stage
We need someone to show the way
Here we gather around the man
We're all doing all that we can
Here we gather around the stage
We must conquer our inner rage
“Sauropoda” defies description; one minute it’s funneling the sound of Afrobeat through synths, the next it’s floating off into space. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 28, 2019
